Prof. Drew Leder (Loyola University Maryland) will propose in this lecture that to be embodied is also to be susceptible to illness, injury, aging, and other challenges. But he will also explore how people "heal" (become existentially whole) even in the face of such adversities. There turns out to be a whole chessboard of different strategies people employ when one's life, and body, start to fall apart.
This lecture will be held at UBC’s Green College (6201 Cecil Green Park Road, Vancouver, BC V6T 1Z1). As on previous occasions, we will host a pre-lecture reception featuring appetizers, charcuterie, coffee and a juice bar from 12:00 PM to 12:50 PM. You are cordially invited. No RSVP required.
In addition, it will be recorded and subsequently posted on our YouTube channel and on the Recorded Lectures section of our website.
